The Norwegian committee has announced that Obama had won the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize. On Oct 9, 2009, he won this award. Obama is the fourth US president to be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.

This year’s Peace Prize nominees included 172 people. The Nobel recipient receives a prize of about $1.4 million. Obama plans to donate that money to charity.
