Filed under: Health — Tags: — Winson @ 3:03 AM

The latest annual addition of British Beer and Pub Association’s, published that the alcohol consumption in UK for the year 2010, remained lower than it was six years ago, with the consumption continuing to flat line.

The report showed the statistics of UK alcohol consumption, where there was a small 0.6% rise in alcohol consumption per head in 2010. The drinking levels are still 11% lower than they were in 2004. It also showed that the UK ranks below the European average in terms of consumption.

However, other reports are quite contrary to the above report. They are raising the concerns about the UK’s approach to the industry. Britons are still paying high taxes on alcohol when compared with the neighboring countries. British alcohol taxes are now the second highest in the Europe on beer and wine, and 4th highest on spirits.

Also UK stats are eight times higher than France and 11 times higher than Germany. Apart from these the resources also found that the alcohol consumption per head is lower than that of 2004.

According to the experts, the rise in the percentage of taxes is due to the 35% rise in the beer taxes in the past three years.

They also added saying that the number of people who are drinking above health guidelines has been falling from many years and the industry is also investing reasonable amount of funds for conducting anti-drinking campaigns, to create awareness among the drinkers about the harmful effects of alcohol consumption.

Filed under: Health — Tags: — Winson @ 10:14 AM

Abusing of Marijuana which is also called as marihuana and cannabis, is a growing problem in the present society. Though many laws were made to control the possession of marijuana, they are not that effective to control the use of marijuana. Every day one or the other story comes in news about marijuana which is increasing the severity of the condition.

Very recently Narcotics officers from California, destroyed a large garden of marijuana plants in their first outdoor operation of the year. A total of 13 officers from Nevada County Sheriff’s Office and the US Forest Service found a large marijuana garden near Tahoe National Forest property between Graniteville and the Town of Washington in eastern Nevada County.

Officers were successful in pulling out 8625 plants which were still young as it is early in the growing season. The growers of the garden were not found and hence no arrests were made. The officials also reported that the debris left at the place was consistent with the Mexican drug organization which are also known to use public lands.

Since no suspects were found in the garden when the officers arrived, they were suspecting that the people growing the garden may have been tending another garden in the near by area.

There are few more cases in which these kind of things happened but in smaller proportions. Anyhow whatever may be the size of cultivation a little bit of it is enough to spoil large number of the people.

How Electric Infrared Heaters Ensure Safe and Healthy Environment?

Filed under: Health — Tags: — Winson @ 3:23 AM

It is known that a wide variety of heaters are available for ensuring warmth in colder regions in home, office and so on. Electric infrared heaters are one of the popular heaters preferred by most home owners. They are considered to use electricity and emit infrared radiation. The emitted radiation strikes any object or individual and turns to heat. Electric infrared heaters, by providing effective heat, also ensure safe and healthy environment. Want to know how? Then, go on.

The radiation emitted by electric infrared heaters is nothing but infrared radiation which resembles natural radiation from the sun. So, they ensure natural warmth without any harm. In addition, they are not at all associated with the use of gas or oil tubes and cylinders. This is considered to assure eco-friendly nature. Unlike other conventional heaters, electric infrared heaters do not emit harmful gases or fuel byproducts. So, there are no traces of air pollution and hence, ensure a healthy environment.

These electric infrared heaters do not change the levels of humidity in the air. They also do not increase the temperature of air. However, they only provide natural heat. Whereas, the convection heaters when heating the air increases its temperature. They are also considered to reduce the humidity levels in atmosphere. This dries up the air and as a result any dust particles, pet dander and others whirl through the air making it dusty. These allergens may also rise the risk of allergies and asthma. Hence, choosing an electric infrared heater is better to avoid these hassles and also enjoy a safe and healthy environment. These heaters are also considered to provide health benefits such as regeneration, improved blood circulation, reduction of pain and swelling, etc.
