LCROSS launched by NASA

Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO) is a NASA robotic space aircraft. Currently it is Orbiting the Moon. LRO is future manned missions to the moon by NASA. After detail mapping of the Moon, It will identify safe landing sites, locate potential resources on the moon. This orbiter will make a 3-D map of the Moon’s surface. Moreover, it provided some of the first images of the Apollo equipment left on the Moon. LRO launched on 18 June 2009 with conjugation of Lunar Crater Observation and sensing satellite (LCROSS).

This is the first United States mission to the moon in over ten years. LRO and LCROSS are the first missions launched as part of the united state’s vision for Space Exploration Programme. The LCROSS carried Spectrometers, near-infrared cameras, a visible camera, and a visible radiometer. Previous missions have revealed trace amount water on lunar soil. LCROSS mission seeks a definite answer for the question of how much water is present.

Iran launched Omid Satellite

Iran launched Omid satellite. It is a first domestically made satellite in to space and will return to earth after orbiting for three months. It was launched on Feb 3, 2009. Iran launched first commercial satellite in 2005. Iran hopes to launch three more satellites by 2010. Omid (Hope) is a research and telecom satellite. Omid was equipped with experimental satellite control devise and power supply system. Moreover, it designed for gathering information and testing equipment.

The launch of Omid satellite was clearly timed to coincide with the 30th anniversary of Iranian revolution. Mr. Mottak said, “Iran’s satellite technology is for purely peaceful purposes and to meet the needs of the country. It was key step for Iran’s ambitious programme. The world powers worried because the same rocket technology used to launch satellite can also deliver warheads. Many agreed that Iron had achieved a milestone. Only ten other countries have successfully launched satellites in to Orbit.

Asia Indoor Games held in 2009

The third Asia Indoor games held in Hanoi, Vietnam on 30 October –8 November 2009. The Asia Indoor Game is a Multi sport Event. This Event held every two years among athletes representing Asian countries. Olympic Council of Asia regulates this Asian Indoor Game. The first set of such games held in 2005 in Bangkok, Thailand. The games will consist of six to eight exiting sports including electronic sports, extreme sports, aerobics, acrobatics, dance sports, inline hockey, swimming and indoor athletics along with a 25 meter, short course in swimming. In 2013, these games will combine with Asian Martial Arts Games, merging in to one event held every four years.

The Sports committees around the world cutting down expenses due to the current global economic crisis. The upcoming Asian Martial Arts Games will also following decision by the Olympic Council of Asia. Around 45 national Olympic committees agreed the decision.

Salt lake wins MLS cup in 2009

The 14th season league is the 2009 Major Soccer League. The MLS cup is the Pinnacle of professional Soccer in the United States. This is the second major soccer Championship played in Qwest field. There was a gathering of 46,011, the forth highest in MLS cup history, and it was seventh highest crowd in Qwest field History. The final was played at Qwest field in Seattle, Washington, and Real Salt Lake. The Major Soccer League Season played on 22 November 2009. Eastern Conference Champion Real Salt Lake and Western Conference Champion Loss Angeles Galaxy contested the match. Real salt Lake and Loss Angeles met twice during the regular season. Real Salt Lake won the game.

Moreover, their first MLS cup after winning 5-4 in a penalty shootout in a following 1-1 draw. ESPN televised the match in English and Galavision in Spanish. This was the first time the MLS Championship televised in Cable network.

13,722 Affected by Swine Flu

A total of 13,722 people worldwide infected by swine flu. The European Union, as well some experts in America said that a pandemic might be inevitable, but they doubt the number deaths will be high. In Mexico, 168 deaths confirmed. In US, 169 are confirmed cases. In Canada 34 confirmed cases. In UK, there are eight confirmed cases. In Spain, there are 13 confirmed cases. In Germany, there are four confirmed cases.

The Swine Flu virus in India, taking the death toll to 463. Of the latest deaths reported from the Southern state of Karnataka alone, while only one death confirmed from state Maharashtra. Infection tally rises to 13,722. In the recent past their has been a spike in the number of cases being reported from Kerela. Of the latest 75 cases reported from Kerela alone. “Till Date samples from 72,483, people have been tested for Influenza virus ‘A’ (H1N1) in Government laboratories. Moreover, 13,722 of them have been found positive.
